I want to create beautiful things in this world. Things that may be left behind for others to enjoy. And I hope by doing so, I inspire others to create beauty.

I’VE BEEN AN ARTIST ALL OF MY LIFE . . .

I’ve been an artist all of my life, though for most of it that knowledge hid somewhere deep within my soul. As a child, my mother taught me how to draw by sight, how to paint, how to sew, and somewhere in there I gained an appreciation for hard work, especially with my hands. My father, a very passionate man, would draw his feelings. Incredibly well, for a man who never drew except when he was upset.

Once, my father told me to write my dreams down in order to overcome the fear they brought me. And so I did.

I credit my parents, especially my father, for my foray into the world of art (sorry, Mom, but I really didn’t appreciate the lessons until now). I began by writing dreams, then reading them out loud in class, and that eventually led to publishing books. One of them even made it to the USA Today Bestsellers list (though I don’t write under this name).

However, the longer I spent in the book world, the more exhausted I became. I didn’t feel free.

So.

Many.

Rules.

And then Covid happened, and I found myself with a wee bit more time on my hands and a lot less to do on the weeknights and weekends. My two daughters and I bought some rocks and paint, and we would sit outside and just let the colors tell the story. While the girls’ attention span lasted for a few rocks, I wanted more.

Thus, more I have become.

Now I work with many mediums, from acrylic to epoxy, with canvas to reclaimed wood. With every piece, I gain a better understanding of who I am as a person and what I want out of life.

I want to create beautiful things in this world. Things that may be left behind for others to enjoy. And I hope by doing so, I inspire others to create beauty.

Because this world could use a little sprucing up.

With peace, love, and kindness,

Krystal
